Dallas, TX (March 10, 2023) - WNBA All-Star Game MVP Arike Ogunbowale recently appeared on the JWS Tea with A Phee podcast, where she candidly discussed the challenges she has faced throughout her career, including contract negotiations and playing in the EuroLeague.
Ogunbowale, who currently plays for the Dallas Wings, signed a three-year, $725,952 contract in 2020. She revealed that the contract negotiations were not easy and that she had to fight for her worth.
"I think it's important for players to know their value and to be willing to negotiate," Ogunbowale said. "I'm grateful for the contract I have now, but I also know that I'm worth more than what I'm making."
Ogunbowale also discussed her experience playing in the EuroLeague for Dynamo Kursk. She said that the level of competition is much higher than in the WNBA, which has helped her improve her game.
"Playing in the EuroLeague has been an amazing experience for me," Ogunbowale said. "I've learned so much about the game and I've become a better player because of it."
Ogunbowale is one of the most promising young players in the WNBA. She is a three-time All-Star and has led the Wings to the playoffs in each of her three seasons with the team.
